Boxing Day Haul 2011

I woke up at 6am and went downtown to Holt Renfrew at 7:15am. There was more sale stuff and there's an extra 10% off from 7am-9am. Nothing on sale caught my fancy. I tried on some Christian Louboutin knee high boots with a chunky heel and square toe box (don't know the name). They were on sale for $889 (from $1475) but too bad they were so hard to take off and they weren't loves. I didn't get them.

I went to the Robson Aritzia because I knew the Pacific Center Aritzia would be packed since it's near a skytrain station. The Robson location was pretty quiet. All the things I wanted before on a wish list weren't really on sale for much because they are classics. Also, I wasn't in a very happy mood so wasn't in the happy mindset to splurge on anything like a new coat/leather jacket. I did walk out with two items. The Wilfred black lace tank for $39.99 (from $75) and the charcoal Wilfred free double knit long sleeve (similar to this photo) for $55 (from $70). The latter purchase wasn't that great of a deal but I wanted it. I'm going to wait for the second cut because there's nothing I really have to have.

I went to Zara next and tried on so many nice pieces (white crochet dress, white crochet top, and various blouses) but it was either too big or too small. I thought I could make it work. In the end I walked out with the oh so popular Zara gold sequin clutch for $35 (from $60) and Zara black patent flats for $20 (from $40).

I went to Brentwood mall as my last stop since I didn't get to make it to Metrotown. My cell phone ran out of batteries because I was rage texting, twittering and bbming so I drained the thing. Since I had a family dinner to go to, I had to make sure I make it home in time. In a way it's good I never made it to Metro, I saved money.

I got a beautiful deep purple strapless satin/chiffon dress for $47 (from $95). It's my back up New Years Eve dress if my ASOS doesn't come in time. I actually love this dress. I'm going to sew a hook and an eye to the back of the dress to help the zipper stay up since the dress barely zips. I usually hate strapless dresses but this one is super duper snug at the top so it doesn't keep on falling.

I bought some Relvon lip glosses on London Drugs. They didn't have any lip butters. I can never find good colours anywhere! GRRRR. But most of the Revlon lip products were $3.99 and there was a buy 2 get 1 free coupon next to the stand.

Pink pop (matte neon pink), Pink pursuit (shimmery peachy pink) and Orchid (shimmery mauve baby pink)

Total purchases = $230. Pretty good for the stuff I bought. The dress and the clutch were my favorite purchases and the most needed purchases.

I hope my readers are having an enjoyable Christmas Eve with their loved ones. I had to work 11am-7pm and I'm pretty tired. I ate some left over food and I've decided to have a calm night and to paint my extremely short nails a festive colour. I haven't taken any Christmasy photos this year - partially because of the lack of a digital camera battery charger. Also, It doesn't really feel like Christmas to me for some reason. Maybe it's because we don't have snow yet... yeah that's it..

I'm really looking forward to boxing day shopping. I'm going to be at Holt Renfrew and Aritzia bright and early at 7am. I will be doing my classic speed shopping and finish within 1.5 hours like last time and go home to sleep again haha.

Outfit of the Day - similar looks

I'm glad I got so many positive reviews for my previous post. I may consider doing another one because it was so well received. There's 3 more days till Christmas. I'm so glad the malls are open later so I managed to finish my Christmas shopping.

I went to a smaller mall near my house one day after work to get two more gifts. I also kept in mind to look for a second back up New Years dress for my back up New Years dress (purple one) in case it didn't come in time. I'm so picky about dresses and I like unique ones.

Here's what I wore to do Christmas shopping

Talula Babaton Howell peacoat, Forever 21 leggings, Banana Republic scarf and flats and Balenciaga bag.

Here's a dress I tried on. I love the concept of this dress: White, sparkly, shift dress, sheer sleeves. However, I did not love this particular dress. The cut of the dress was really unflattering (not form fitting) and there was a puff sleeve that made my shoulders look boxy. Basically, I was swimming in it. I tried on the smallest size too. Bummer. It would make a good #2 dress if this dress was made better.

See the pretty detailing?

Then today I went to the mall again to get some Pinkberry after eating dinner with my boyfriend. I didn't buy anything at the mall. Just did a little research of some things I want for Boxing Day and Christmas.

This what I wore:

Talula Babaton Howell peacoat, Forever 21 faux leather/knit leggings, Banana Republic scarf, Jimmy Choo flats and Balenciaga bag.

Pretty much the same idea as the day before but I wore different sweaters which you can't even see. I love my new fox tail. My boyfriend thinks it's actually cute. Usually all the eccentric things I like, he thinks looks weird.

I getting a haircut on Friday (finally!). My last haircut was in Easter. It's really growing out and I've lost my layers. I'm parting my hair in the middle because I want to try out the Kardashian hair style. They part their hair in the middle with long bangs and wavy hair. My hair is naturally very big and wavy so I think it will be a good look.

Let's get personal

I'm trying to make my blog more personal and trying to be more relatable to my readers. I used to be a faceless blogger but as you have seen, I've slowly grown out of my shell - yay! My favorite blogs to read are usually written by people in Vancouver and who share a bit about their life outside of fashion and beauty.

I'm guessing most of my readers are people who don't know me personally. So I've decided to give myself a little Q&A session. For my friends who read this blog (I love you guys!), I'm sure this may be boring since you probably know all these facts already.

Q: How old are you?
A: 25.

Q: Do you go to school?
A: I did. I graduated in June 2010 with a Bachelor's of Science in Health Science at SFU. The faculty was a combination of your typical science courses like 1st - 4th year Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and etc with public health courses like Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Social Determinants of Health, and etc. Yes, I'm a closet nerd and I don't look like one.

Q: What do you want to do in life?
A: I want to be a public health inspector (if I get into the program in Fall 2012) and if not that, basically work in a health care setting - not sure what that is at the moment.

Q: So is Kerri your real name?
A: No, it's half of my name. If I tell you how to spell my real name, I will be easily found on Google or online. I just want a little privacy so I kept it a general name for blogging purposes. My name is spelled uniquely but it's pronounced a really generic way. If you are my friends, don't give me a comment with my real name please and thanks!

Q: What is your favorite colour?
A: Black. I know it's a shade/hue but I say it counts.

Q: Do you have a job?
A: I work in the alcoholic beverage industry. I work for 3 people in my life: Balenciaga, Chanel and Louis Vuitton haha. All jokes aside..no, it's not what I want to do with my life...per se but I wouldn't mind being an inspector for liquor and licensing (ultimate dream!)

Q: You seem like you spend a lot of money on fashion/beauty, how do you even save?
A: I actually don't spend thatttt much. There are spikes in my credit card cycles like in June (Aritzia post card sale) and November & December (Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing day deals). I plan my big purchases strategically (wait for deals that I know are coming up, try to find it used but good condition, and etc). Otherwise, I just save by having a job, by not having any expenses and by having parents who are supportive of me and my decisions.

Q: Do you have a boyfriend?
A: Yes. We've been together for 3 years and a bit.

Q: What shows do you watch?
A: Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Jersey Shore (yes, I'm embarrassed to admit that) and Keeping Up with the Kardashians (and all their other spin offs).

Q: Are your girl friends like you? - similar tastes in designer clothes, shoes, bags, and beauty products?
A: Actually, most of my girl friends taste in clothes and make up are different than my taste. Which is great, we all have our own style and we barely have those awkward moments where you realize you have the same item.

Q: What is your signature look?
A: All black everything! Basically black/dark jeggings, pretty flats and bunny earring studs.

Q: Heels or flats?
A: Flats because I'm lazy.

Q: What is your signature make up look?
A: I really like to focus on my eyes because they are my favorite aspect of my face lol. I usually do my eyes with: a cream shimmery shade under the brow bone, use a pastel pink or neutral pink on my crease and a metallic bronze brown colour on my lids. I use eye liner to line my upper lash line as thin as I can (or not at all) at the inner corners and make it thicker on the outer edge. For my bottom lash line, I only line it halfway from the outer corner to the middle. I don't like thick eye liner on my upper lash line because it makes my lids look smaller or look like a monolid.

Q: How many premium designer bags/accessories do you have and what are they?
A: Louis Vuitton mini lin speedy 30 in ebene (my first premium designer bag), Louis Vuitton Trevi pm, Louis Vuitton Eva in damier ebene, Chanel black lambskin medium flap with silver hardware, Chanel red camellia wallet on chain, Balenciaga giant silver hardware City in papyrus, Gucci studded pelham bag in brown monogram canvas, and a Louis Vuitton vernis zippy coin purse in rouge fauviste. I have a Marc by Marc Jacobs Natasha bag in black I use a lot - even though it's not premium designer.

Q: Premium designer shoes?
A: Only 2 pairs. I have yet to dive into this area because I don't really wear heels and I think I get more use out of a designer bag than pretty heels. So far it's only: Christian Louboutin Fifi 100 in metallic turquoise suede and Jimmy Choo wigmore flats in anthracite.

Q: What sites do you visit when you go online?
A: Blogs on my favorites link, Facebook, Twitter, Mallvibes, Forever 21 Canada, Hotmail, The Purse Forum, and Revscene.

Q: Tell me some interesting facts about yourself?
A: I have a scar (due to stitches) on my left temple on my head because when I was a kid, I wanted to be a figure skater and I was wearing tights and a dress spinning around in the kitchen and I hit my head on a baseboard. You can see the scar below the tip of my eye brow in that eye photo. My best friend and I have been best friends since kindergarten. I'm scared of worms. I hate drinking milk that has a slight off smell of expiration even though it's not close to the due date. I have a tattoo on my side ribcage and I got it 4-5 years ago. I talk in my sleep. I am quite updated with internet memes and internet pop culture.

My bestie and me.

Have a Merry Christmas readers! I hope you enjoyed this post. I got bored writing it after a while. You can still ask me questions via the comments below or Formspring. You can even follow me on Twitter if you want to see what I do on the regular.

Xmas shopping and Outfit of the Day

I went to Metrotown to shop for gifts. Ughhh I hate shopping for gifts for people who don't like the same stuff as me. It's so difficult and draining - my head wanted to explode. I was just wandering mindlessly around the mall for 4 hours. Holy crap that's a long time. I got 3 out of 5 people done. The two other people just require gift cards so I'm almost done.

This is what I wore to the mall. Pretty casual.

Forever 21 scarf, Banana Republic sweater, J Brand jeggings in comet, Jimmy Choo flats and Balenciaga city bag in papyrus.

I found a cute fox tail for cheap at Spring $6! My friends call it a feather duster lol.

I also was testing out memory foam pillows like a fool (laying my head on them) in Winners because the ones in the department stores were either non existent or sucked. Man was the line up to pay was long.

Also, yesterday I decided that I didn't like the dress I bought last year to be my New Years Eve dress this year. Great timing.. I know..

The bust needs to be altered bigger and the hips needs to be taken in for me. If anyone in Vancouver wants it, I'm selling it for $35 firm (it's so cheap already so don't lowball me and that's exactly what I paid for) and face trade only. The tag is a US size 4 but it feels like a US size 2 in the bust. It will fit anyone 34B or lower but not any higher. Also the waist fits a size 26 and the hips is about 36 inches. Brand new with tags attached.

Here's my NYE that didn't make the cut for me - that I'm selling:

Here's the dress I ordered last minute on ASOS:

I hope it comes in time. It says it will be delivered on or before Dec 28. That's cutting it close. The material on this one is more stretchy so it will be more forgiving in certain areas. So I went to the mall to try to find a dress but everything was too typical/cheap looking/ugly or hella expensive. I pray that this dress will come in time and will fit my unconventionally shaped body.

Christmas Gifts Under $100

Here's a list of stuff I made of great gifts to get a girl for under $100. If your girl friend's style is like mine, then maybe she'll like the stuff I like.

1. Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette (great basic pallette if she doesn't have one) - around $50
2. Michael Kors Very Hollywood eau de toilette 50ml - around $75
3. Pajama bottoms - around $10-$20

YSL Arty Oval Ring

Dear Kerri,

You deserve this ring. Merry Christmas.

- From Yourself

I've always heard about this YSL ring. I never gave it any thought until I saw it in person. HOLY MOLY my heart stopped and my gaze was locked. I saw a customer wear the turquoise one. I told her ring was beautiful and asked if it was "the" ring. Surely enough, it was the YSL ring. Ughh, now I found something I adore that I can't stop thinking about.

I'm either going to get the deep blue or the turquoise ring soon. Readers! Can you please help me choose which one I should get for my first YSL ring? The coral is just stunning as well and I want that one as my second YSL ring. (I'm talking as if I already bought my first already haha). I'm planning to go to Holt Renfrew on Friday to check it out. The stock photo above does not do the ring justice.

The ring is $250USD so it should be around $300CAD. That's not too bad for costume jewelry. It's cheap compared to Chanel costume jewerly. The oval is made out of glass and the hardware is gold plated.

Here are some photos I found on the internet (not mine!) that capture the beauty of these rings:

photo from http://www.fashionjunkii.com

photo from http://nomobilylocatimi.blogspot.com/

So I looked at dupes of these rings (straight replicas and inspired ones) and they don't even compare to the original YSL ring. It's either the stone lacks detail or the hardware looks cheap. Ahhh, the woes of a fashion snob.

My boyfriend thought it was a ridiculous price for a ring that's not made out of any precious metals (I guess gold plated doesn't count) and didn't even bother looking at any photos of the ring. There goes me hinting what I wanted for Christmas. That was the cheapest item on the list anyways lol. My boy "space" friend thought the ring looked like a tumor but agreed that it's different but lovely in it's own way. *Correction: boy "space" friend said I should get it! (if you are reading lol)* ..So I hope Holt Renfrew has stock.

Okay so I'm finally going to get my last Seattle haul item back to me so I can finally do that haul post like I promised. So annoying when things are not in your control.

I went to Seattle

Saturday I went down to the States to do a little shopping. I went to the Premium Outlet, Pike Public Market, Nordstrom Downtown, and Forever 21 downtown.

I spent most of my time at the Seattle Pike Public Market. It's like Granville Island back home and I love buying treats to eat. I was here for lunch and dinner.

Sweet treats at Le Painer. I bought the meringue puffs (top shelf) and a chocolate almond paste croissant to eat (not pictured). They also had savory snacks to eat like sandwich baguettes and quiches that I want to come back to try. The pastries were really cheap from $1.50 for the meringue puff to $3.75 for the tarts down below.

I wanted to try their macaroons as well. I bought the pistachio, raspberry and lemon. The macaroons were okay but not comparable to the Thierry ones in downtown Vancouver which are more lighter and not as sweet.

This was at the Michou bakery and deli. They had giant baked potatoes, big gormet sandwiches and lots of take away savory meals.

I bought a risotto ball filled with cheese and a chicken mediterrean sandwich with artichoke, tomato, and mozzarella cheese goodness.

I went to this Russian bakery. I bought a few savory baked snacks for dinner like their potato and cheese pastry, ham & cheese & broccoli pastry and a cabbage pastry and a smoked salmon & pate pastry. I couldn't take any photos because the place was really small and cramped.

Weird vegetable things.

The white flowers belong in the cabbage family.

I went to Nordstrom on the hunt for Christian Louboutin heels. The selection here sucked. The only pairs of pumps they have were minimal and they were all really eccentric heels. I saw these black suede bow Prada flats on sale foe $232 USD. I tried them on but for some reason, Prada flats look weird on me. They make my feet look really fat and not sleek at all. So I passed on them.

I'll do a haul post soon about the stuff I bought during this trip because I'm not home at the moment and all my stuff is scattered either in the trunk, my house and my boyfriend's house.

Here's what I wore that day:

H&M peacoat, J Brand jeggings, Burberry scarf, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and Forever 21 booties

Last Year I went to China

And I took so many beautiful pictures!

I was looking through my pictures of stuff I already have to do a blog post (yes, I was feeling lazy about taking new pictures) and I just saw these old China pictures. They make me smile because I had such a good time for these 2 months with my family despite getting sick a lot haha..

I want to go on vacation again so bad now. I went to lots of places like Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou and a bunch of other places I don't remember the names of.

The Great Wall of China

Couples attach two locks together and lock them here to represent their love for each other

I don't remember what this said but I'm standing next to it because it was of some importance lol

The Temple of Heaven

The palaces were always so big

Climbing these stairs.. I was about halfway when I took the photo.

$5 CAD pet bunnies anyone? - At a night market

Nanjing Bridge where many lost their lives to build

Some trinkets I bought along the way: pearl bracelet and necklace at a pearl factory and these art pieces (a glass ball but the hole is super tiny at the bottom..and artists use a tiny brush to paint the insides through that hole).

I'm going to the states to shop tomorrow. I'm really excited! I've been itching to go. I really want to go to Downtown Seattle to visit Nordstorm to perhaps buy something expensive if the item is right up my alley and to eat at the Pike Public Market.

Celebrity Outfit Inspirations #2

Here are some of celebrity fashion inspirations:

I may want to try a lighter pair of shorts (perhaps a shade of grey or tweed) with black tights and black shoes. I'm so against denim shorts with black tights/leggings - but that's just me.

I love her accordion pleat skirt! Probably won't try it in yellow but maybe in a black, navy blue or beige colour instead.

Love the pleather pants/leggings look. She looks so good even thought she popped out a baby! I still have to get my 7FAM skinnys from Pt Roberts.. ughhh.
